Saint Kilda Saints

Although a Saint Kilda Football Club was formed as early as 1858, the club that predates the present club was not formed until 1873 as a union of the South Yarra Football Club and Saint Kilda Cricketers.

They were a foundation member of the VFA in 1877 but dropped back to junior ranks in 1879 rejoining the VFA in 1886. They never won a VFA premiership.

They were asked to join the VFL in 1897 mainly as they were located south of the city and had a good ground. Again they remained unsuccessful not winning a VFL game until 1900 after 48 consecutive defeats.

Saint Kilda were initially associated with a Seagull although the "Saints" has been universal for the last forty years.

In 1982 a cover was issued showing the Club's logo.

Saint Kilda played its initial games at the Junction Oval moving to Moorabbin in 1965. It now plays its home games at Waverley Park and uses Moorabbin as its training ground..
