Ulster Province |

History
Ulster is based on the North coast of Ireland, stretching from the east to the
west. Three of its nine counties, Caven, Donegal and Moneghan are part of
Ireland while the remaining six make up Northern Ireland. It has been under
British Rule and has been racked by sectarian violence. The future appears
brighter with shared power and home rule.
Cavan
become the first club from the province to affiliate to the GAA in 1885. The
first recorded football game played in Ulster under GAA rules takes place in
Ballyconnell on the 7th March 1986, despite a warning that trouble may ensure,
from the British Authorities.
The booklet at left is part of the An Post/GAA Football
team of the Millennium. It contains the Ulster players that were picked in the
Team of the Millennium. There are 4 stamps each of Cavan Player, John Joe
Reilly, and Down Player, Sean O'Neill. The back of the booklet contains the
All-Ireland Championships won by Ulster Counties. |

Counties
Armagh
Armagh has won 1 All-Ireland Championships, the
last being in 2002.
Cavan
Cavan has won 5 All-Ireland Championships, the
last being in 1952. |

John Joe Reilly was
picked in the An Post/GAA Football team of the Millennium.
He played centreback and was responsible for Cavan's two All
Ireland wins in the forties. One was played at the historic Polo Grounds of New
York in 1947.

Derry
Derry has won one championships, the last being in 1993.
Donegal
Donegal has won one championships, the last being in 1992.
Down
Down has won five championships, the last being in 1994. |

Sean O'Neill was
picked in the An Post/GAA Football team of the Millennium.
He was blessed with speed, craft and vision. He was
instrumental in Down's wins in 1960, 1961 and 1968. He has a record eight
Railway Cup Medals.

Other Ulster Counties of Antrim, Fermanagh, Monaghan and Tyrone
have not been successful in the All-Ireland Football Championships. |
