2009 Premiership

2009 Geelong Premiership SES

With their unexpected loss to Hawthorn in 2008 there was elation as the Geelong Football Club won the 2009 Premiership with a hard fought win over Saint Kilda by 12 points.. Australia Post continued the tradition of issuing a SES after the win that had commenced with Ports win over Brisbane in 2004. It was released on 29th September and is shown above. The selvedge of the stamp shows the Premiership Cup which is postmarked with the Geelong permanent pictorial postmark.

Gary Ablett Jnr won the Brownlow Medal and Paul Chapman won the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in the Grand Final. Coversplease released both covers as well as one for the Team Celebrating
