Wayne Carey

Wayne Carey played his first game for North Melbourne in 1989. He was appointed Captain in 1993 at the age of 21. He won the Best and Fairest in 1992, 1993, 1996 and 1998 and was runner up in 1990 and 1995. He won All Australian Selection in 1993-96 and 1998-2000 and was captain in 1996 and 1998 to 2000. He has played 244 games and kicked 671 goals for the Roos. His centenary season was rewarded with Captaining the Premiership team.

He was chosen by the North Melbourne Football Club as its star on the North Melbourne Centenary Maximum Card and Postcard. The maximum card is displayed below. The postcard is essentially the same except that the background is brighter and there is no postmark or stamp. A cover with the outline of the postcard was also released.

In 2000 he was included as one of the 27 covers to commemorate the "Superstars" of the AFL on the first day of issue of the AFL P stamps.

At the start of the 2002 season the world fell down after an affair. He stood out the season and has moved to the Adelaide Crows for 2003.

The Adelaide Crows won the preseason Competition with a 31 point win over 2002 Grand Finalists Collingwood. The game saw the return of Wayne Carey. He played 16 games taking his total to 260* and kicked 29* goals for a total of 700*.
